FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
When should I book a newborn session?
It's best to book your newborn session in advance to guarantee a spot - around your 20 week scan is ideal. I will always try and fit in last minute bookings, but as I book up months in advance, it's not always possible.
At what age do newborn sessions take place?
The ideal age for a newborn session is between 5 and 14 days old. For babies with prolonged hospital stays, a later date can certainly be arranged.
What if baby arrives early or later than expected?
As I only book a limited number of newborn sessions per month, we have the freedom to arrange a session date once your little one arrives.
How long will a newborn session take?
Most newborn sessions take up to 4 hours. Whilst I understand you're eager to get back into the comfort of your own home, it is simply dependant on how baby is feeling. Ensuring they are happy, comfortable and safe is my first priority. I only book one newborn session per day, which means there's no rush and we can simply allow baby to take the lead - they're the boss!
Do you travel to my home for the newborn session?
No. I cannot travel to your home due to the large amount of lighting equipment, posing aids, backdrop systems, props and the many blankets, wraps and accessories that will be used during a session.
What should my baby wear?
Bring your baby in something comfortable and easy to remove, and don't put socks on them (as they can leave little marks that show in photographs).
What should I wear?
For parent photographs, I always suggest simple clothing with no bright colours and no large logos or patterns. For photographs involving more than one family member (such as mum and dad, or mum, dad and older sibling), try to keep to a colour scheme and avoid too many colours.
Can I/or my eldest child have photographs with my baby?
Absolutely! Parent and sibling photographs are included with all newborn packages as standard.
THE BOOKING PROCESS:
To book a newborn session with The Rose Quartz Photography, we secure your due date in my calendar. As I only take a limited number of newborn sessions per month, this allows for early or late arrivals. Your due date is secured with a non-refundable booking fee of £50, which is deducted from your chosen package. When your little one arrives, please notify me within 48 hours. We will then arrange a date that's suitable for all involved within 14 days of their arrival.
As newborn photography is a specialist session, they can take up to 4 hours. The whole session is "baby led" which means they're the boss so lots of breaks for feeding, cuddling and soothing is expected. It's all very calm. Your baby's happiness and safety is my absolute priority.
I will transition through a variety of poses, props and colour schemes throughout the session, including bean bag posing and prop posing. Depending on how settled your baby is when we begin, we will end with family and sibling photographs. All newborn sessions are in keeping with my brand - timeless and classic. This means simplicity is key, with a focus on baby.
Make your self at home and consider the session a few hours of well deserved relaxation!
ONCE YOU LEAVE:
After the session, I will begin the editing process. A typical newborn gallery will take two weeks to complete - during busy periods, this may change. When it's complete, you are invited back for a viewing session or you can opt to view your photographs on a private online gallery to fit around your busy day to day life.
If you decided on the all inclusive package option, all of the final edited images are yours. If you opted for a smaller digital option, you go on to select your absolute favourites. Then, you may choose how to use your complimentary wall art discount and print credit - this gift is available for 7 days once you have viewed your images.
All prints and products are printed professionally from suppliers not available to the general public. Trust me, it's worth it. The quality is sublime. Once they arrive, I will package them up for you, ready for collection and a life on show in their new home!
